Michael Grygorcewicz

Cuphead

Co-op type: can be completed in co-op mode with two players on a shared screen

INFO
  1. Genre: platformer/shoot 'em up
  2. Platform: PC, PS4, XONE, Switch
  3. Release date: September 2017

Cuphead is the first game in the history of StudioMDHR. This is especially impressive because the debut project was immediately acclaimed as one of the most original games in recent years, and this was in 2017 and nothing has changed since then.

The uniqueness of the presented title is due to its wonderful, hand-drawn graphics styled after cartoons from the 1930s. The characters are also original - there are two of them in co-op mode. Talking about the cup-brothers. Their names are Cuphead and Mugman. The siblings fight several dozen bosses using projectiles fired from fingers. Despite having only one "weapon," each confrontation requires a different approach and almost inhuman dexterity. To put it mildly, this isn't a simple game.

In the breaks between duels, the brothers traverse the drawn - how else - map of Inkwell Island. Besides numerous secrets waiting to be discovered, you can also come across stores offering improvements such as self-guided projectiles that inflict reduced damage or a charm that adds extra health points. It's also worth getting acquainted with the additional boards, which require more platform jumping than fighting.
