  3. Platform: PC Windows

What is Crusader Kings III?

It's Netflix' The Crown as a video game. But seriously now, this is the next installment in the series by the Paradox studio representing the genre of grand strategy games, where the action takes place mostly on the map.

In Crusaders Kings III, players rule the entire dynasty in medieval times. This means that in addition to the standard problems of the state, such as alliances, military, both religious and economic issues, and what happens at the Royal Court will also matter. This involves all kinds of plotting, intrigues, arranging favorable marriages, and other elements of politics. And we will have to ensure the continuity of both our dynasty and power.

How is the new installment different from the previous one?

The sequel has gained the reputation of being an incredibly difficult game – one in which gameplay involves watching tutorials on YouTube with one eye. The authors promise that Crusader Kings III will be a little more user-friendly (though still not easy), with a clearer interface and really appealing visuals. Heroes will be more important, as they can now be harmed by excessive stress. Characters with too many problems on their minds can become alcoholics and even fall into madness, which will prove beneficial to the enemies of the crown.

As it's usually the case in Paradox's games, some gameplay elements will disappear in the new installment of the series. In this case there will be neither naval battles nor trade. Either way, we're going to get a huge game for hundreds of hours again, which will probably get a lot of support from patches and add-ons.

WHT IT'S WORTH WAITING?

Great strategy games are among the most challenging ones, in which we need to invest a lot of time and knowledge. Crusader Kings III promises to be a little more novice-friendly, and once we get caught up in the whirlwind of court intrigue, the gameplay might prove quite interesting.
