An inclusion of an optional multiplayer. Our Mafia III wishlist
Table of Contents
Despite the first Mafia being solely a singleplayer experience, we should keep in mind that the times have changed. After all, an addition of multiplayer doesn’t have to jeopardize a fine campaign – GTA V was a fine example of how the two game modes can go hand in hand and not hinder one another. The crime underworld which is the heart of the Mafia universe is simply begging for online play – players associated with different families could fight for control over particular turf of the virtual city. Setting up bounties, eliminating the leaders of rival crime families, massive heists, raiding the enemy locations… the possibilities are simply endless! Certainly, many Mafia fans would be interested in such activities.
However, the multiplayer should be implemented on a single condition – it cannot influence the storytelling standard of the singleplayer mode. It would be unacceptable if the online component would weaken the main story – after all, what fans yearn for is an unforgettable and well-executed plot that doesn’t require us to be online. Multiplayer being only optional would satisfy most of the audience – while many would eventually grow to like it. A vision of creating our own character, joining a new mafia and forging our own story certainly seems tempting.
