Rayman. What Happened to Heroes of Might and Magic, or Biggest Ubisoft IPs We're Slowly Forgetting
Table of Contents
- Genre: platformer
- How long have we been waiting: 9 years
This iconic series of colorful platformers starring Rayman, a hero without arms but having hands is a true legend of the genre. And that was the name of the last fully-fledged installment of the series (Rayman Legends) which was released in 2013. The series has its roots in 1995, and a list of all released games for all platforms and counting spin-offs, as many as 45 games were released in total. With its amazing atmosphere, it is a shame that in the era of cute indie platformers, we have to do without this veteran.
Suffice it to say that Rayman Legends was rated 9.5 / 10 with us and we wrote about this game the following:
All reviews were very enthusiastic - people loved Rayman Legends, but the sales were a disappointment for Ubisoft, even with one million copies sold in the year of release. From that time, the company re-releases Legends on different platforms, with Google Stadia being the final one in 2021. There also have been mobile games released, but nothing on a major, fully-fledged continuation. The fact that Rayman 's creator - Michel Ancel - decided to focus on Beyond Good and Evil 2 , and in 2020 left the industry after accusations in a Ubisoft scandal, didn't help either. Anyway, a new, colorful Rayman harnessing the power of PlayStation 5 would be something!
