Unlike most people described in this article, Guillermo del Toro does not specialize in acting – which does not prevent him from being as compelling an actor as the rest. Born in 1964, this Mexican filmmaker gained international fame as the director of Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, Blade II, Pacific Rim or 2004's Hellboy.

Del Toro had been interested in film for decades, making amateur, short movies. However, he entered the fray not as a director, but a VFX specialist. Only in 1993, after ten years of creating special effects, he made his debut as a feature film director, with the very well-received Mexican horror film Cronos. By the way, Mimic, the film we mentioned when talking about Norman Reedus (created four years later) was neither commercial, nor artistic success. A 2001's horror film The Devil's Backbone, on the other hand, left audiences in awe, and secured del Toro's reputation.

In later years, Guillermo del Toro became known as a director with a very unique style, who can create really good pictures regardless of whether he's making a low-budget, obscure indie movie, or a blockbuster. Two of his films deserve particular attention: Pan's Labyrinth from 2006, recieved 3 Oscars and 3 BAFTA awards, and The Shape of Water from 2017 – four Oscars, including for best film.

Del Toro was often engaged in production of various computer games, although most of them were, for some reason, never finished. This includes Sundown by Terminal Reality and del Toro; the game is reminiscent of Left 4 Dead, which due to difficulty in production was canceled in 2006. Another game of his, Insane, a survival horror by Volition, for which he'd created the script and which he was supposed to direct, wasn't even completed. The project was cancelled in 2012. In 2015, Konami cancelled Hideo Kojima's Silent Hills, another project del Toro was involved in. The only game he was involved in that was actually completed, is Hellboy: The Science of Evil from 2008 Guillermo del Toro wrote the script and directed it.

Interestingly, in the case of Death Stranding, Guillermo del Toro only gives his face to the character – Deadman will speak in the voice of Jesse Corti, an actor known from TV series 24, Heroes or Law & Order. Little is known about Deadman himself, other than that he will be a kind of advisor to the main character, and that he'll be particularly talkative.

He started with amateur websites, which he coded himself in HTML, then he moved on to increasingly larger portals. A computer engineer, but he was always more drawn to writing than programming, and he decided to tie his future with the former. In games, he primarily looks for stories, emotions, and immersion that no other medium can provide - hence, among his favorite titles, are games focusing on narration. Believes that NieR: Automata is the best game ever made.
