What's Amnesia: Rebirth?

It's the third installment in a series of horror games, once very popular on YouTube. The makers of Penumbra and the original Amnesia are responsible for this installment, so the right atmosphere and a fair amount of fear are guaranteed. This time, we move to the Algerian desert as Tasi Trianon, who has no memory of her past and must try to survive in the hazardous environment.

What kind of fears should we expect from Amnesia: Rebirth?

Amnesia: Rebirth is described as a survival horror, although there are plenty of adventure elements and puzzles. Don't be fooled, however: the grim, dense, terror-inducing atmosphere will be the main ingredient of the game. During our journey, we will collect items and scattered scraps of journals and writings to help the heroine regain her memory and learn about where she is. We quickly discover that the Algerian desert is not empty and harbours its own monsters, which we can't fight – the only way to survive is to escape and hide.

OUR EXPECTATIONS

The best game of Frictional Games is, of course, SOMA. But it was the Amnesia series that laid a solid foundation for the walking horror with vulnerable protagonist. After a long hiatus, the creators of the original return to the world they created. And I believe very strongly that Rebirth will show all the pretenders to the throne where they belong. The technology of presenting an interactive narrative has evolved so far that it is now enough to "just" tell an interesting story and not spoil it with long stretches or unnecessary experiments to make it look phenomenal. I want to be scared in the desert and I'm sure the Swedish guys will give me that.
