Released in 2019, A Plague Tale: Innocence quickly won the sympathy of players, as well as several awards for its scenario. Today, it's very often called one of the best role-playing games ever. No wonder then that the sequel did not take long – Asobo Studio, responsible this production, plans to release the second part of the game later this year. The specific release date is not known at the moment, although recent leaks suggest that the game can be expected to launch at the end of June. Leaks are just leaks, though, so we have to wait for official information on this topic.
A Plague Tale: Requiem is a continuation of the story of Amicia and Hugo. In fifteenth-century France, ravaged by the black death, the siblings will once again fight for survival. This time, however, a group of friends will join them, which heralds a bigger variety of gameplay. In the first part, the game mechanics were based primarily on exploration, sneaking, and solving puzzles. Some things we could do by playing just one of the children, which forced us to think about which one of them would be more competent in the given situation.
The expectations for A Plague Tale: Requiem are enormous – not only in the context of the story, which set the bar very high in the first part. This also applies to the graphics, which received favorable opinions in the first installment, and promises to be exceptionally good this time around. In the announcements, we see somewhat typical, but refined landscapes and much more detailed urban areas or interiors. It's mainly the urbanized areas that allow you to notice a huge leap from the original. However, the characters are the focus of this game – a bit older than when we last saw them, they also look better than ever.
A Plague Tale: Requiem will be released on PC and all the leading consoles. We have to remember, though, that the original was released on the Switch long after the remaining consoles, and only in digital version. So we can expect that the upcoming sequel will also arrive on Nintendo in the same way.
