The world created by Tolkien is still growing many years after its inception. Primarily limited to The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings in the past, the universe is constantly being refined with the creativity of new artists. We can expect such an expansion from The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, slated to release this fall.
The action will be set between the events of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. In the game, we will play the role of the Gollum and set out to find the thief who stole his precious. Gollum will be quickly captured and our task is going to be an escape from custody. The game, in which we will explore various levels, largely adapted to climbing, will be strongly stealth-based. Gollum is not a particularly gifted fighter, so for the sake of our own safety, we will have to do our best to avoid direct confrontation.
The creators decided to ensure as much compliance with the original story as possible, so their work is unlikely to surprise us with the plot. Instead, it will focus on climbing and avoiding enemies, all within beautiful graphics. The levels will be implemented with great attention to detail. The style, in which the creatures inhabiting the locations traversed by Gollum are designed, neatly introduces a fantastic atmosphere to the game.
Although the animation in the announcements seems to lag behind the graphics and there is still a lot to be improved there, this game still looks spectacular. Its biggest advantage, apart from the visuals side, is its wide availability – The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released on PC as well as all the leading consoles.
