CD Projekt has decided to expand its offerings and challenge the hit Pokemon GO. It's a good move because there's a lot of interest in similar games, and the Witchers were, after all, wandering monster slayers. So, the gameplay idea fits well with the vibe of the original.
What is it all about? We set off on a walk, phone in hand. The game detects our position via GPS and on the map throws monsters to kill and NPCs that tell us to wander further and perform different tasks. Combat, like the dialogues, takes place on the smartphone screen, of course. However, the game uses augmented reality: elements of the game world are superimposed on the device's camera view.
The launch proved difficult – there were technical issues, draining batteries, bugs, lack of support for quite a few smartphones. Ultimately, however, Monster Slayer makes for an enjoyable walking companion, just in time for summer.
You should like it if:
- You enjoy the Witcher universe;
- You like walking games such as Pokemon GO;
- You don't mind grinding in games.
