The melancholic Triss Merigold. 10 things Netflix show changes in The Witcher

Table of Contents

  1. Has this change worked out well for the show: no
  2. Could it affect the fate of the characters in season three: no

Triss can be quite persuasive when she wants to, but even when she conjures up flowers for Ciri, she does it with an impossible dose of melancholy. I'm not sure whether this is simply Anna Shaffer's acting style, or if it's how her role was written in the script, but it's impossible not to get the impression that Sapkowski presents a completely different character in his books.

In the novels, Merigold was extremely feisty and she seemed like a much more impulsive person. Perhaps the way we perceive her is also influenced by the way CD Projekt portrayed this sorceress. In the Polish developer's games, Triss was a naughty girl while Yen had a confident and imperious personality. Will Andrzej Sapkowski have to admit for once that the game developers did a better job of adapting his work?

It's hard to say. After all, the game Yen was also not exactly the same magician as in the books. For this reason, Anya Chalotra's interpretation, although it has little to do with what we saw in The Witcher 3, seems to be really successful. Anna Shaffer, on the other hand, despite undeniably being a talented actress, seems to be playing a different character. In this context, Geralt's words are very eloquent when the sorceress wants to spend the night with him. "I care about you (but not in this way)," says the witcher. You really get the urge to paraphrase it as: "Triss, we care about you (but play the part a little differently, please)."
