Fringilla Vigo as the leader or friend of the elves. 10 things Netflix show changes in The Witcher
Table of Contents
- Has this change worked out well for the show: yes
- Could it affect the fate of the characters in season three: yes
Fringilla Vigo was introduced in the second season as a much gentler sorceress who, given enough time, could change her opinions. Although she didn't give up her service to Emhyr, the Nilfgaardian emperor, she came around to the idea of cooperating with the elves. She even genuinely started to care about their fate. She also allowed Yennefer to go free, even though she had previously planned to lead her to the gallows.
The change in her character seems plausible. In season two, Fringilla is a multi-dimensional character who struggles with doubt but is able to make difficult decisions. She managed to befriend Francesca, the leader of the elves. She also convinced both her and Nilfgaard that this alliance was the only way to stop the forces of the Northern kingdoms.
The alliance between elves and humans and Fringilla's own attitude may have a profound effect on the future lives of the characters in the Witcher, making them follow a different path than in Andrzej Sapkowski's books. Nevertheless - as Game of Thrones demonstrated before the creators decided to ruin it with the eighth season - in order to translate the written word onto the screen, sometimes you need to make a few changes. Fringilla Vigo's storyline could definitely happen in the world of The Witcher. Still, this doesn't change the fact that it's difficult to predict how it will unfold in the coming seasons. For me, this is one of the biggest positive surprises in the newest episodes of the Netflix series. What do you think about it?
Settling the elves in Cintra is also one of the ideas of the series' creators. At this point, the story could use more dwarves, since they were as persecuted in the books as their long-eared companions in plight. Perhaps they will appear in the third season. Who knows if they won't turn up in Cintra as well.
FROM THE AUTHOR
For almost two years, I waited anxiously for the premiere of the second season of The Witcher. And although I expected the creators to make a few missteps, I strongly believed that the series would succeed. Having watched the second season, I'm not disappointed. I'm not entirely satisfied, either. There were more than a few issues. However, it introduced some fresh ideas that I found intriguing. Well, let's hope that we won't have to wait as long for the third season!
