Story Mode - A short Walkthrough for Dragon Ball FighterZ Dragon Ball FighterZ Walkthrough & Tips
Last update: 25 January 2018
Here is a short introduction to the Story Mode:
- 3 Chapters. The Story Mode is divided into 3 long (5 hours+ each) chapters. The first chapter sees you control the Z Fighters, the second - the antagonists (Frieza, Cell, etc.), while the third one tells the whole story from the perspective of the androids.
- Turn-based system. Your hero has a limited amount of turns (moves) while on the map (upper-left corner of the screen), and it is up to you how to spend them. While on a map, your task is to reach the boss/save the given character from harm. You need to complete this objective before you run out of turns.
- Combat and gaining experience. Even if your turns are numbered, you should never waste an opportunity to roam around the map and take on various challenges and opponents. Fighting clones of you character is rewarded with experience and an increase of e.g. the amount of health points.
- Your enemies grow more powerful. An enemy can grow in strength (e.g. gain a few levels) following a turn you take or after a successful elimination of another opponent. If you are feeling up to it, you can wait for an opponent to grow in strength and defeat him then in order to gain more experience.
- Majin Buu. Sometimes, Majin Buu will randomly appear on the map. Although he'll be fighting solo, for most of the time he will significantly out-level your party / character. If you defeat him, you'll receive a lot of experience, so it is worth to take a detour and fight him.
- Party. As the campaign progresses, you'll be joined by more and more heroes. You can have up to three active party members at the same time, so choose any characters that you see fit.
- Player Upgrades. Your fights are rewarded with upgrades that can be used by your entire party. You can pick-up things like more powerful moves or faster health regeneration, among other options.
- Health Regeneration. Your heroes may become injured - their health will be restored only partially after a fight. The heroes that wait and observe the fight will regenerate more health - so if a hero gets hurt, just choose a different one in their stead to let them rest.
- The Gallery. Your heroes may take part in a short cut-scene at the beginning of a fight. Some heroes reminisce the events seen in the TV series, tell a funny story, or simply introduce themselves to the opponent. Some of the interactions have certain pre-requisites, such as the appropriate arena, or the right pairing of fighters.
- Hard Mode. Complete all three chapters to unlock Hard Mode.
