Necromancer for fast leveling | Example builds Diablo III: RoS Guide
Last update: 17 July 2017
The Necromancer is a mage/hybrid that utilizes the power of life and death enabling him to summon and control various creatures, such as skeletons, golems, or gigantic monsters that engage his opponents on their own. Moreover, the hero has access to a number of skill trees that offer powerful spells, such as decimating curses, corpse detonators, blood suckers, poison, or the ability to create bone armor or spears that can be thrown at your opponent. Necromancers can be used to fill almost any role, so choose those abilities that work well with your chosen playstyle.
Active Skills
The combinations below were chosen and tested in order to offer a convenient leveling experience.
Bone Spikes + Bone Pillars Skill Rune A basic essence-generating ability. The Necromancer summons bone spikes that damage opponents caught in the spell radius. Equip Bone Pillars in order to create additional columns dealing poison damage.
Skeletal Mage + Any Skill Rune The Necromancer raises a skeletal mage that deals 400% of your weapon damage to nearby opponents. Lasts 2 seconds.
Devour + Any Skill Rune A very useful essence-regaining ability. The Necromancer devours every corpse found in 60 metre radius. Each corpse restores 10 Essence points.
Blood Rush + Any Skill Rune A teleportation ability that enables you to reappear up to 50 yards from your initial location. Each use costs 5% of your health. 5 second cooldown period.
Command Golem + Any Skill Rune The Necromancer summons a controllable Flesh Golem. Command - the Golem destroys a pile of up to five corpses, releasing Essence points that can be gathered using Devour.
Command Skeletons + Frenzy The Necromancer raises a skeletal minion every 2 seconds to a max of 7 skeletons. Command - the skeletons attack the chosen target, dealing additional damage (50%). Equip Frenzy to add additional 25% to the skeleton attack speed. |
Passive Skills
When it comes to leveling, the only really worthwhile skill found in the Necromancer's passive skills tree is Fueled by Death, an ability that increases the movement speed by 3% with each eaten corpse. The increased movement speed impacts your leveling speed, making the whole process much faster and feasible. Other passives are very useful in certain situations - take a look at Swift Harvesting, Commander of the Risen Dead, or Extended Servitude.
Leveling - Tips
- If possible, craft a new weapon every time you've ascended to the needed level. Focus on two handed axes with sockets - placing a ruby on your weapon will increase your damage output considerably. Rubies are often found in stock of encountered jewelers - even a small bonus of +4-8 damage will do the trick.
- Equip a helmet with a socket and install a ruby to increase the amount of received experience points.
- If your goal is to level up, travel to Plains of Despair and Halls of Agony Level 3, as these locations are known from ample amounts of opponents.
- Nephalem Rifts are also a good choice when attempting to level up.
- Choose the toughest difficulty level you can manage, as higher difficulty levels mean increased experience. If the opponents die too fast, increase the difficulty level.
