This page of the guide contains information about weapons that you can wield against your opponents during crusades. We describe weapon types and their special powers, as well as suggest how to unlock better weapons.
Weapon types
During the game, you will be able to choose from 5 types of weapons that deal different amounts of damage and have various attack speeds. You'll get a random weapon at the beginning of each crusade, but as you explore, if you're lucky, you'll have the chance to buy or receive a different type of weapon.
The available weapon types are:
- Axes - they have good range and high damage, but low attack speed. They work well against groups of enemies.
- Swords - they have moderate damage and attack speed. This is the first weapon you'll come across in the game.
- Daggers - they don't deal much damage, but they let you land attacks incredibly quickly. If you combine them with additional effects, such as poison, you'll be able to wreak havoc in the ranks of the enemies.
- Hammers - they make up for their sluggish attack speed with incredibly high damage. Using them, however, requires a lot of skill, good aiming, timing and understanding the enemy's tactics.
- Gauntlets - they are a bit slower than Swords, but deal more damage. You can also combo them, ensuring that each subsequent hit is more devastating.
Weapon variants and levels
When your character collects a certain amount of Faith points after preaching a Sermon in the Temple, you will be able to unlock new weapon variants that will add new effects to your attacks.
- Bane Weapons - they add a chance to poison the enemy upon hit. Poison slowly depletes the opponent's health over a certain amount of time. This is useful when fighting weaker, but more numerous enemies, and goes well with daggers.
- Zealous Weapons - this weapon variant gives you Divine Inspiration points whenever you regenerate your Fervor gauge.
- Necromantic Weapons - after killing an enemy with this weapon variant, there is a chance that a ghost will appear on the screen and deal damage to the closest enemy.
- Merciless Weapons - attacks made with these weapons have a chance of dealing critical damage to enemies. Very useful when fighting bosses, especially when using the Merciless Hammer.
- Godly Weapons - this variant is extremely rare, but significantly increases the damage of a given weapon when compared to the basic version. If you have this weapon variant at your disposal, make sure to use it.
The levels of weapons that appear during the crusades can be increased by purchasing the Might of the Devout upgrades. This can be done in the upgrade screen after leveling up Faith, as well as when unlocking new weapon variants.
