Chapter 1 - "The Girl and the Firefly"

First steps in Child of Light

In the Chapter entitled "The Girl and the Firefly" the tutorial will guide you through the consecutive steps. You will learn the basic mechanics and combat techniques. One of the first things you have to do is to move an object, which will allow you to proceed. This element is often used in the game.

Within the first minutes of the game, you get to meet your companion - Igniculus is going to light up your way and help you fight and solve puzzles. He quickly shows you how to regenerate both Health and Mana Points. In the game, there are special scrubs, which can be moved by both characters. Whenever a character touches such scrub, it shunts - you have to collect the orbs that fall off the scrubs in order to regenerate your Health and Mana Points, as well as Ignaculus' strengths.

• Green orbs - Health regeneration,
• Purple orbs - Mana regeneration,
• Blue orbs -Igniculus' strength regeneration,
• Orange orbs - experience points.

The developers offer you much leeway in exploring the map - you can go back at any time to check whether you left something behind, or wage a battle you skipped before. The game has several save game slots. Usually, the game saves after battles, interacting with other characters, and, of course, at the beginning of a new chapter.

The first puzzle

After you meet your companion and learn how to regenerate Health Points, you have to face the first puzzle. You are going to need Igniculus' help in order to solve it (more precisely, his ability to light up). You have to navigate Igniculus behind a particular sign and direct the light at the proper symbol - after doing so, the doors will open. In the picture above, we have circled the pairs you have to connect. Each sign has its own color to make the solution clear.
