Why can't I choose skins and emblems for my aircraft in Ace Combat 7?

You can't choose skins or emblems for your aircraft during your first playthrough of Ace Combat 7's campaign. You need to complete the story mode first to unlock the option to change the appearance of your fighter jet in reply missions mode or for another playthrough.
