Forest
- You will begin your adventure by exiting a car that has gone off the road. This is an sequence you cannot skip. Max will always pull off the road as soon as he sees a mysterious figure.
- After exiting the car, you will play as Laura. Your task will be to give Max the toolbox, the one from trunk.
- After giving Max the toolbox, you can head out to search the forest. Laura will want to find the figure that was lying in the road and see if anything happened to her.
- During this forest passage you will come across 3 collectibles: Harum Scarum Poster, Escapology Master's Chest, and The Fool.
- After a short walk, however, Laura sees and hears someone in the woods. She'll start running to get to Max.
- After getting to the car, Max tries to start it. You are safe inside. Nothing will attack you in the woods.
- Suddenly the sheriff, Travis, appears. He will direct you straight to your hotel, while also marking this point on the map for you. You may or may not be nice to him. These choices do not affect the relationship between the characters.
- After you are done talking to Travis, you will head off to camp. Even though Max wants to go to a hotel, you cannot change that decision. Laura will always bet on camp.
Camp
- You will arrive at the camp in the middle of the night. There will be no one around.
- You can look around the area, but there are no collectibles or secrets.
- The only thing you can do at the camp is open the basement door. Choosing a tool to open has no effect on the storyline going forward. Going inside is forced by the game, and there is no other option to push the plot forward.
- Inside you can find one collectible - Bloodied Collar.
- As you explore, Max will be attacked; it's a sequence that can't be skipped.
- After running up to Max, you have two options. Run away or help him. They have no impact on either the plot or the relationships between the characters.
- The prologue will always end the same way. You will receive an achievement for completing it.
