Seeker Droid works like a metal detector, it's required by a series of separate missions, mind that this mission series goes in pair with Macrobinoculars mission series and is designed to finisz both together as objectives of both will lead you to same planets.
Macrobinocular is a binocular you will use for object identification, like Seeker Droids they are used in series of separate missions.
Missions for new technologies can be picked up starting at level 52, for the Empire go to Drill Control Center in Makeb and speak to T4-M7 and Z1-3C droids, for the Republic side speak to M3-8Z and BB-6G droids in Giant's Spear Command Post in Makeb.
