Altai Mountains | Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts Walkthrough

Altai Mountains is the first large location in Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts. You will visit it after the training stage. Also, you will have to eliminate some real targets in this location. There are a total of 5 quests to complete here, 6 challenges, 6 collectible items to find and 2 Bounty missions. In this chapter we have prepared a detailed walkthrough of Mount Altai location.

Contracts

The following contracts and objectives have to be completed in the location of Mount Altai:

1. Objective 1 - Download Ivanowsky's Plans.
2. Objective 2 - Find the client's spy.
3. Objective 3 - Eliminate Dmitri Ivanowsky.
4. Objective 4 - Destroy all test results.
5. Objective 5 - Steal samples of the virus.

Challenges

The player can participate in additional challenges such as:

1. Interrogate 3 Officers.
2. Perform 20 Headshots.
3. Kill 5 enemies by using gas.
4. Eliminate Ivanowsky without triggering the alarm.
5. Kill Ivanowsky and his two assistants within 10 seconds.
6. Complete all contracts and objectives but kill Ivanowsky only.

Collectibles and Bounty missions

There are also 6 collectibles to find and 2 objectives within the Bounty system. The targets that have to be eliminated have been described at the end of this chapter. We have marked the location of all collectibles on the map (a detailed description of secrets and collectibles can be found on a separate page of this guide).

Beginning

Jump on the wall to start climbing.

As soon as you get control over your character, open the map using the button indicated on the screen. There will be a marked zone to the west of you. Head there. Run down the hillside and jump onto a rocky shelf. From here, jump on the wall and climb up, then climb up the smaller wall, where a short cutscene awaits you.

Use the Mask Mode to find a climbing area.

A new Mask Mode system will be unlocked during this particular moment. Once activated, all objects you can interact with like items that can be collected, corpses that can be moved or places to climb - will be highlighted. Active this mode and look at the wall with the pipes - it's located opposite to the wall on which you climbed.

The first of numerous climbing stages in the game.

Jump on the pipes and walk on them to the right side. Rotate the camera to the right (towards the mission marker) and make a jump. Now rotate the camera to the left and jump again. Stand on the edge of a tunnel which leads down. Jump down after a short cutscene. Do not worry about health points - these will regenerate spontaneously within a several seconds.

If you only have the opportunity to do so, then try to eliminate your enemies quietly.

Walk to the end of the tunnel, jump down and move forward into the deep grass. Here you will encounter the first enemies in the game. Follow the on-screen instructions. Move through the grass in crouched position and approach an enemy from the back. Silently kill your enemy, then grab his corpse and throw it into the grass to cover your tracks. Don't forget to loot his dead body!

You can take down enemies quietly, or you can use your gun and quickly kill them all.

Now head towards the mission marker to climb a slight elevation. From here you will be able to see three enemies. You can get rid of them by using your gun, or assassinate them silently. If you are interested in the latter option, throw a stone (the button responsible for this maneuver will be displayed on the screen) into the bushes located on the right and wait until the enemy approaches. When the enemy will get far away from his allies, move down and silently neutralize him. Return to the elevation and reuse the stones to separate the two soldiers standing close together. After that, take care of them quietly.

Approach the marker to collect a sniper rifle.

When it's over, loot corpses of fallen soldiers and head towards the mission marker to collect a sniper rifle. Now stand on a cliff slope (at the location shown by the mission marker) and activate your Binoculars as you look towards the enemy base. After a while, an armored combat vehicle will appear. A few enemies will jump out of it.

Shoot the fuse box to distract all enemies.

If you do not want to be detected, first shoot at the fuse box installed on an electric pole. This will lure in a nearby enemy - wait until he stands by the box and get rid of him. Then kill the patrolling soldier along the fence. Then, quickly eliminate the officer standing by the door. Now, all you have to do is to neutralize the two remaining enemies - take them down quickly, one by one.

You'll be able to replenish your ammo near crates like this one.

Jump down and approach the pole where you can slide down on a line. Take an item from the body of killed officer and enter the building. Replenish the ammunition at the crate and approach the location indicated by the mission marker to turn off the power. Now exit the building by the second door and head to the designated exfiltration zone - this way you will complete this stage and receive a Private Contractor trophy.

Click on the Continue button to return to the game and you will finally work on 5 main objectives. These can be done in almost any order - in this chapter they will be described as they appear in the list of objectives.

Download Ivanowsky's Plans

A group of enemies you'll encounter at the south entrance of the outpost.

Head to the northeast from the place of the last exfiltration Depending on which side you approach the complex, you will face different groups of enemies (but these are small groups of 2-3 soldiers). For the purposes of the guide, we will approach the place from the south side. There you will first encounter a group of 3 soldiers - 2 enemies standing by the campfire straight ahead and an additional opponent standing in the passageway on the left. Separate the two soldiers by using stones. Lure them in your direction and then get rid of them, one after another. Then kill the last enemy on the left.

It's very easy to separate these enemies.

Loot all corpses and head north. Here you'll find a couple of enemies patrolling the area. It is very easy to separate them with stones and then eliminate them (while they're away from each other). Move to the northern spot and approach the enemy outpost.

There's a lot of enemies to kill here - it's worth starting with the enemies standing on the roof.

There will be many targets to eliminate here, so it is advisable to kill enemy soldiers in the right order. Start by eliminating the two soldiers standing on the roof of the building (on the left) - nobody is looking at them, so you can shoot them right away. If you don't care about silent elimination, then pay attention to the two soldiers standing side by side on the left. Right next to them there is an explosive barrel - wait for the third soldier to approach it, then shoot at it to take out all three of them. After that, kill the rest of enemies with your sniper rifle. On the other hand, if you want to kill enemies without being detected, you'll need to watch and monitor their patrol routes. You have to kill them individually and only when they cannot be found (or seen) by other enemies. Remember that you can use stones to lure enemies away from their guarding spots, but keep in mind that it requires you to get closer towards an opponent.

With a camera view, you'll be able to track down a lot of enemies located next to the main target of this location, Dmitri Ivanovsky.

Once you have eliminated your enemies, loot their corpses and explore nearby buildings. Now move up, into the camp (into the building). Interact with the camera system (CCTV) located in front of the entrance - this will allow you to look through the cameras which monitor the area where your main target, Dmitri Ivanowsky, is located. Also, you will be able to mark all soldiers that reside there.

Interact with this computer to end this contract.

Now exit the camera view and interact with the computer to the right of your current position. This will allow you to download Ivanovsky's plans and end this contract. Head to the exfiltration site to finish your completed objective. You will get some cash and tokens as a reward.

Find the client's spy

You'll find a group of soldiers patrolling the area on the way to your destination.

Head northwest from the spot where you have completed the initial stage. On the way to the zone indicated by the map, you will encounter a group of three enemy soldiers. Ignore the two enemies who walk together and lure a lonely soldier aside by using stones. When he disappears from the sight of two enemy soldiers, take him out with your sniper rifle. Separate a pair of soldiers by throwing stones next to them and eliminate them, one by one.

Use high bushes to eliminate enemies at short distances (stealth kills).

Head towards the zone to encounter a group of soldiers standing by the house. Wait until the conversation's over. After that, they will spread to the sides. Use dense grass and throw stones at individual soldiers - try to lure them into the grass where you can eliminate them quietly. Be patient and kill all soldiers silently - calmly explore the path routes of all soldiers and eliminate them one by one (by isolating single targets from the rest).

Examine the spy's dead body to finally end this contract.

When all enemies are dead, loot their corpses and approach the dead body of a spy lying at the entrance to the house. Interact with it to investigate it and complete the contract.

Eliminate Dmitri Ivanowsky

The easiest way to get to the target is from the spot where Ivanovsky's plans were downloaded. At the northern end of the base there is a breach in the wall - move through it.

The time has come for the main course of this location - the elimination of Dmitri Ivanovsky. You will find him in the northwestern part of the map, in the red zone. The easiest way to get to your target is from the southeast - we have described this path in this guide. You can go there directly from the place where Ivanovsky's plans were downloaded.

The enemy outpost that you're going to encounter here.

When you do this, stand at the edge of the cliff and look to the right - there will be several enemies to eliminate. Shoot at the explosive barrel to kill three enemies. Then deal with a heavily armored soldier and his companion. After that, kill the last enemy hidden in the building. Now head towards the red zone.

Two enemies are patrolling the area.

Along the way, you'll encounter a patrol of two soldiers. As always, throw a stone to the left side of the patrol to separate the soldiers. First, kill the enemy who didn't move in any way. After that, remove his companion. Loot their corpses and head towards the red zone.

The base is full of enemies - Dmitri himself is marked with a yellow icon.

You'll get to the cliff. Lie down on the ground and use Binoculars to explore the entire enemy complex and mark all targets. There is a whole lot of enemies to kill here, so it is worth remembering about a few things:

• First of all, kill the enemies that stand at the highest positions - snipers who are able to deal massive damage and can easily locate you.
• Then take out single, separated enemies - those who are not in the field of view of the other soldiers.
• After that, you need to remain patient and learn the patrol paths of your enemies - when you are sure that an enemy is in a spot where no one may see him, then kill the target.
• If you don't care about silent elimination (and the challenge connected with it), then you don't have to worry about the alarm - your position at the top of the hill gives you a huge advantage as long as you shoot accurately and regularly hide in the bushes.
• Drones will fly towards your location if your trigger an alarm - hide in the bushes in such situation. Drones will be unable to locate your position. After that, eliminate them, one by another.

Your main target is Dmitri Ivanowsky - he normally resides in a chemical laboratory, one of the buildings of the complex. If you don't trigger an alarm, that's where you'll find your enemy (chem lab). If you trigger an alarm, then your target will run outside the building. The latter is a much easier option to eliminate your target. Kill all the enemies and eliminate Dimitri to finish the job.

Destroy all test results

To get inside, you'll have to climb up a bit - in front of you there's a place which you can grab.

The next mission consists in destroying the results of Dmitri's research. The mission objective is located in the northwest corner of the map, behind the base of Dmitri Ivanovsky. As it turns out, the main entrance to the building will be closed - you have to find an alternative way in. Start climbing the rocks located to the right from the closed gate.

Now all you have to do is to jump on the ledge and then enter the building.

Climb up on next rocky ledges and then jump onto the platform where blue rags are hanging. Now all that remains is to jump into the hole and then finally enter the building.

Distract enemies with stones and try to eliminate them silently.

The objective of your mission is at the very top of this room - you need to get there. Try to eliminate enemies quietly - if they walk in pairs, separate them by throwing more stones. You have to climb up the stairs to the top (starting from the ground floor), and then climb up the crates located in the center of the room. From here you only need to run up the stairs to get to the top.

In a room at the top you will find a computer that you need to interact with.

Kill the remaining enemies and then run up the stairs to the top floor to reach the lab. There you'll encounter the last two enemies. Kill them. Interact with the computer to delete all research results and finish the mission.

Steal samples of the virus

Entrance to (contaminated in this case) the laboratory.

You can undertake this mission during the elimination of Dmitri Ivanovsky or just after killing him. Samples of the virus are located in a laboratory in which Dimitri was residing - the entrance to this laboratory is visible on the above picture.

The sample lies on a console - it is easy to locate it, even in a cloud of toxins.

Just enter the building and locate the virus samples - they will be located on one of the consoles. However, the problem starts when the alarm got activated while Dmitri was still alive. In this case, the laboratory rooms will be contaminated. Staying in them will slightly reduce your health points with every second. If this happens, you need to quickly run into the lab, steal all samples and get outside. After that the mission will be completed.

Now you can go to any exfiltration zone to complete all your contracts and objectives. You will return to the menu where the next location is awaiting you.

Reward - Ivan Yashin

Green indicates the area where you will encounter Ivan Yashin.

One of the two Bounty orders in this location concerns the elimination of Ivan Yashin. It gets activated after you complete the Find Client's Spy contract. Ivan Yashin will be located at the area where you had to turn off the power (first stage of this location), near the exfiltration site - the exact spot of his whereabouts is shown in the picture above.

The enemy does not stand out from other enemies in any way. Furthermore, his presence in the open field makes him an even easier target to eliminate with your sniper rifle. Be careful and don't let him approach too close to the player's character, as he can instantly deal massive damage. Once you have eliminated Ivan Yashin and his vanguards, leave the area of this order. By doing so, you will complete the bonus contract and receive a lavish payment.
