XCOM 2: War of the Chosen fixes not for the base game
XCOM 2: War of the Chosen expansion is going to introduce a lot of new content and tweaks for the game. However, those who don't buy the expansion cannot count on a patch that would implement some of the new game fixes.
Tomorrow XCOM 2 is getting a major expansion War of the Chosen, which is going to add a whole lot of new content and improve existing systems. It will also bring along a bunch of fixes – those, however, will not be available for the base game, Firaxis wrote on Twitter. That same message states: “The XCOM 2 code base was rebuilt to implement new and update existing systems.” That information obviously got some fans angry, as they were hoping that some optimization tweaks would also make it to the base game. Instead, XCOM 2 players have to pay $40 for the expansion in order to enjoy game fixes.
Anyway, if you are seriously into XCOM 2, buying the War of the Chosen expansion may be an easy choice. The add-on offers “nearly a game’s worth of new content”, according to Game Informer. First and foremost, there is the new elite type of aliens, the Chosen, which are said to be “the most cunning enemies XCOM has ever faced”. To tip the balance in humanity’s favor, XCOM too has gained new factions and heroes. There are also some major enhancements to the strategy layers and more.
