XCOM 2 Long War of the Chosen Mod is Almost Ready
The developers of the extensive XCOM 2 mod called Long War of the Chosen have announced that version 1.0 will soon debut. The beta versions of the project are available for testing.
Fan group known as Team LWOTC announced that the highly anticipated mod Long War Of The Chosen for XCOM 2 is almost ready. The project was made available for testing for some time now (a few days ago beta 4 was released), but the creators mean the 1.0 release. Of course, its launch will not mean the end of work and the creathor have plans for further development of the mod.
Long War Of The Chosen is already the largest mod for XCOM 2. As you can infer from the title, the project expands the iconic Long War 2 mod so that it can take advantage of the numerous innovations and improvements from the XCOM 2: War of the Chosen expansion.
Long War Of The Chosen offers everything that Long War 2 does, but adds a number of improvements on top. In addition to adapting the content of the expansion to the gameplay, the project also strongly improves the AI of enemies. New skills were also introduced, the unit development system was modified and the campaign balance was improved.
It is worth adding at the end that the task of adapting Long War 2 for the purposes of the expansion has been undertaken by a new team, because the authors of the original switched to creating commercial games some time ago and are currently busy with the work on their debut project - Terra Invicta. Work on this title has been going on for many years, but recently - after the team managed to raise over $215,000 during a Kickstarter fundraiser - it has clearly picked up pace.
What's all the fuss about?
The project stirs a lot of emotions, because Long War 2 is the most important mod for XCOM 2 and its lack of support for the War of the Chosen expansion was a big problem for the community.
Long War 2 significantly expands the gameplay and makes it more difficult and diverse. With this mod installed, a single playthtrough of the campaign takes about 100-120 missions, enabling us to play out a real war with aliens. The project also adds the AI Advent faction, which tries to counteract our actions on the strategic map. The project also introduces fresh solutions, such as infiltration mechanics and hideout resource management, forcing us to gather resources, intelligence and recruits. It also expands the list of classes, weapons and alien species.
