Xbox Series X - Storage Can be Expanded With a Seagate Card

Microsoft has released more information about external drives for Xbox Series X. In addition to the standard USB options, Xbox Series X Storage Expansion Card will be available, offering speeds equal to internal storage.

So far the price of the card has not been revealed.
IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. There's a slot in the console for the so-called Xbox Series X Storage Expansion Card;
  2. The card will provide an additional 1 TB of storage space;
  3. The Xbox Series X Storage Expansion Card will run as fast as an internal drive;
  4. You will still be able to use the USB drives.

Yesterday we learned the exact technical specs of the upcoming next-gen console - Xbox Series X. Many people's attention was drawn to the announcement of the possibility of buying a card that will provide another 1TB of storage. Now we have learned how it will look like in practice.

The internal drive of the console will offer only 1 TB, which is not a particularly impressive number these days. Therefore, the possibility of doubling the available storage will undoubtedly prove useful. It will be realized in an interesting way. In collaboration with Seagate, a special card has been developed, called the Xbox Series X Storage Expansion Card, which will be plugged into the connector on the back of the console. It is designed to provide exactly the same loading and writing speed as the internal drive.

The price of the Xbox Series X Storage Expansion Card is yet to be announced. It is known that the card will not be the only way to provide the console with additional data space. It is also possible to attach traditional external drives via USB 3.2, the same as those we attach to Xbox One.

Microsoft will not recommend installing games developed for Xbox Series X on USB drives, but they should work for current-gen titles. They will also be useful for transferring data between consoles.
