Work on Crysis 4 put on hold. Crytek studio lays off employees
About 60 employees will say goodbye to the Crytek studio. The developers of Crysis announced that they have stopped work on the next installment of the series.

Crytek Studio, known primarily for the Crysis series and the CryEngine engine, published a new post on X, in which it announced major layoffs. About 15% of the company's workforce, or roughly 60 out of the currently employed 400 people, will say goodbye to their jobs. The cuts concern the teams: programmers and shared services.
The reason given for the layoffs was the "unfavorable market dynamics, which have been persisting in the gaming industry for several years." So Crytek joins a very long list of studios that have made staff reductions in recent years.
In the same announcement, we also read about the suspension of work on the new Crysis, which was supposed to happen in the third quarter of 2024. Since then, the studio tried to shift the developers to focus on the ongoing development of Hunt: Showdown 1896.
While Hunt: Showdown 1896 is still growing, Crytek cannot continue as before and remain financially sustainable. Even after ongoing efforts to reduce costs and cut operating expenses, we have determined that layoffs are inevitable to move forward.
Crytek assured that the laid-off employees would receive proper severance and support in their future career paths, and also emphasized their faith in the future of the studio. Plans include further development of Hunt: Showdown 1896, and supporting the CryEngine engine. This one, let's remind, powers, for instance, the recently released Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
