What is Going On with God of War Live-Action Series?
The God of War TV series was announced in 2022. Is it still being made, and if so, when can we expect it? We check out what's happening with the Amazon Prime Video project.
At the end of 2022, Amazon ordered a God of War live-action series, and since then work has been underway on the production. The TV show, based on the popular video game series, has become an eagerly awaited project by numerous fans, who are waiting with interest for news about casting for the main character and the release date.
The series will explore the story of Kratos, who, after being exiled from Greece, hung his weapons and went to the Norse realm of Midgard for rest. When his beloved wife dies, Kratos embarks on an epic journey with his son to scatter her ashes from the highest peak of the Nine Realms. So the Amazon Prime Video production will be based on the 2018 God of War game.
And at what stage is the work on the series? Are they still making it? Not much has been said about the Amazon’s God of War lately, leaving fans of the series to wonder if the TV show is still being made at all, or if the project has been abandoned. All indications are that the God of War live-action series from Rafe Judkins, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby is being further developed. This is evident from information shared by Sony at CES 2024 in January, at which time it was revealed that scripts were being worked on.
And with them not yet completed and casting not yet started, or at least nothing of that sort has been announced, we are unlikely to expect the series to debut on Amazon Prime Video any time soon. We certainly won't see God of War live-action in 2024. We are more likely to see it in the second half of 2025 or even later.
For now, however, these are speculations; officially, not even an approximate release date for the God of War TV series has been announced. All that is known is that work is still underway and no one has abandoned the project.
