We have fresh information about Heroes VII – no Conflux service and new screenshots

During the presentation of Might & Magic: Heroes VII in Paris, Erwan Le Breton, Creative Director for Might & Magic franchise at Ubisoft, revealed to us that the game will not include the Conflux service which proved to be problematic to many players.

On the occasion of the recent Might & Magic: Heroes VII presentation, we had an opportunity to talk with Erwan Le Breton, Creative Director for Might & Magic franchise at Ubisoft. Among the many questions about the future of the series and various features of the game, we managed to learn that the developers do not intend to return to the Conflux system which caused problems for many players in the sixth installment of the series.

As you might remember, in Might & Magic: Heroes VI Conflux offered the players with Internet access a range of bonuses that were not available offline. At the same time, this platform was the source of many problems, such as disappearing achievements or an inoperative synchronization of saves. “The vision we had for Heroes VI was to push the game online; playing online would grant the players some benefits. The problems that were present when the game was released stemmed from lack of time and a troubled relationship with the previous developer [Black Hole Entertainment studio] in the end”, admits Le Breton and ensures us that this time the developers have no intention to punish anyone for playing offline. This does not mean, however, that Heroes VII will have no complex network functions: "It’s 2015 – we’re all connected and we like to socialize, so there will be some online features to support that. There are some things we're thinking about [in this respect]. We will wait for the game to be close to release date to say what technology we're going to use."

The Might & Magic Creative Director has also referred to the recent launch of the refreshed version of Heroes of Might & Magic III, which was met with a negative reception of fans of the series, alleging that Ubisoft was lying about the appearance of the original version and accusing the company of trying to make an easy profit on the cult production. However, according to Erwan Le Breton, this title is not going to disturb the peace of mind of the French giant: "Heroes III HD is beyond the expectations with how well it's selling, so for us it's not a flop." It is worth noting that the financial success was not accompanied with good reviews; these were the players who gave the production an especially low score on Metacritic.

Let's hope that the seventh installment in the series will not be plagued with similar problems. If delays are avoided, it will be released for PC later this year. Heroes VII is created by German studio Limbic Entertainment, which already has a lot of experience with the Might & Magic franchise. Below you can see several new screenshots from the game.
