Warhammer 40K: Darktide Error 4001 Explained
If you are encountering the message Failed to join server error code 4001, we will tell you about this error on this page.
Warhammer 40K: Darktide had its official launch yesterday. Unfortunately, the game is still plagued by various bugs. We have already written about many of them (Backend and Signing In Errors, 2003 error, Error 2007, 4008 error) and tried to provide ways of dealing with them. In this article, we will talk about error code 4001, which manifests itself with the message “Failed to join server”.

When error 4001 occurs
Error 4001 appears on various occasions, there seems to be no rule for it. However, it very often plagues players using the Game Pass service. It is likely, therefore, that the error is more prone to occur for players using this platform specifically.
How to fix error 4001
At the moment, unfortunately, there is no confirmed effective way to get rid of error 4001. Many players report that standard measures such as verifying files, restarting the game and computer or reinstalling have not worked. Even less standard ones, which have often helped with other errors of this type, such as using a VPN (we remind you that Steam "doesn't like" this) have also failed. Creating a new character or restarting the router also had no effect.
Many methods don't work, but does anything work? Some players report that being patient can help. Minimising the game (alt + tab) and waiting, then returning to the game or simply trying to connect until it works. So there is a chance of 'forcibly' getting through error 4001. However, some players report trying to play for hours and not succeeding.
For the moment, it remains to wait and hope that Fatshark (the game's developer) will sort out the problem soon. If an effective workaround can be found, we will do our best to write about it.
