Ubisoft records losses while Assassin's Creed: Shadows preorders hit level of second best-selling installment
Ubisoft's crisis is getting worse, as the company's latest financial report perfectly shows. The company's only hope for an improvement in results is unceasingly seen in AC: Shadows.

Ubisoft has published a financial report for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2024-2025, which is for the period from October 1 to December 31, 2024. The French company experienced a significant drop during this time.
Ubisoft records losses
Ubisoft's total revenue in the third quarter of the fiscal year 2024-2025 was 318.1 million euros. That's almost 48% less than in the corresponding period of 2022-2023 (606.4 million euros).
The French corporation's total revenue amounted to 990 million euros during the nine months of the settlement period analyzed. So it was 31.4% lower than the one earn from April 2023 until March 2024 (1,442,500,000 euros).
It should be mentioned that the typically lucrative Christmas and New Year's sales didn't significantly benefit the company. After the first half of the fiscal year 2024-2025, Ubisoft's total revenue was 671.9 million euros. Even then, we were dealing with a decrease of 19.6% year on year, so it can be stated that the corporation's crisis is deepening.
The sale of games, DLCs, subscriptions, virtual items, etc., offered by Ubisoft also fell by almost 52% year over year. In the third quarter of the analyzed year, it was 301.8 million euros, and twelve months earlier - 626.2 million euros.
Overall, during the fiscal year 2024-2025, the company generated 944 million euros in revenue, which is 34.8% less than in the first three quarters of the prior year (1,448,600,000 euros). The greatest interest was in older games (consistently Rainbow Six: Siege and the Assassin’s Creed series), which provided the French with 268 million euros in revenue in the third quarter, and over nine months - 762 million euros. From the latest titles, The Crew: Motorfest and AC: Mirage stood out (Star Wars: Outlaws wasn't mentioned in the report).
Assassin's Creed: Shadows pre-orders are "stable"
However, Ubisoft believes that by March 31, 2025, it will succeed in doubling this amount and achieving 1.9 billion euros in revenue. The company sees hope in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, whose pre-orders are "solid," comparable to the pre-orders of AC: Odyssey, the second-best installment of the series, if only financial success is taken into account. AC: Shadows will hit PC, PS5, and XSX/S on March 20, 2025.
It should be added that tightening the belt at Ubisoft brings results. Reducing costs, including the shutdown of XDefiant servers and a "targeted restructuring," is anticipated to enable the company to reach its goal of over 200 million euros in savings by the end of the fiscal year 2024-2025. These processes will continue in the next settlement period.
