Twitch Will Test New Features, Including Rewinding Streams
Twitch will soon begin testing three new features, including stream rewinding. The new features will arrive in November, be available to some viewers for a month, and then disappear.
Until now, Twitch live streaming hasn't given viewers the ability to easily rewind a stream to rewatch an important moment. Now, however, this is about to change. The platform is going to introduce three new features: Rewind the Stream, Remind Me, and Watch Trailer. Their tests will last throughout November, and some Twitch viewers will gain access to the features.
According to The Verge, which interviewed a Twitch representative, we will be able to rewind two minutes of the stream and watch it at a different pace. We will not lose anything by watching the replay, because the current broadcast will be visible in picture-in-picture mode above the chat panel.
It is worth mentioning that the rewind option will be available only on streams where it will be activated by the creator. Otherwise, you will not be able to use the new button.
The tests will also include the Remind Me function, which - as the name suggests - is to notify us about the upcoming stream, and Watch Trailer, which will enable us to watch the trailer of the streamer's channel.
A quarter of Twitch's audience will participate in the tests of the new features, and when the trials come to an end, the buttons will disappear. Let's hope they return as soon as possible, though, because rewinding streams on Twitch is something that many viewers would gladly welcome.
