Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 is already a great hit. The game is not fully released, but players with Gold or Ultra Editions can already play it. Well, there are some challenges, as many people report various issues with servers, stutters or crushes and even with overheating CPU. However, this is not important for many, as they wonder about something else – is the game online only, or is it possible to play offline?

Is Space Marine 2 Always Online? Can You Play Offline? Explained

Yes, you can play Space Marine 2 offline. However, there are some restrictions.

  1. Campaign is fine. You will not se any difference depending on online / offline, and you can switch between them whenever you want.
  2. Eternal War is a PvP mode, which is obviously unavailable offline. You can’t play it with bots.
  3. Operation is a PvE mode and it is possible to complete missions offline, however the game warns you that the progress you gain that way will be lost. So, all customization unlocks will not carry over. Collecting Dataslates should be alright, though. It is a good way to learn the whole story, as Operations are complementary to the main plot. They present the tale from a different perspective.
  4. Sometimes online is required. Be prepared that from time to time the game will force you to turn on Steam online mode. In these cases, the title will not launch or load, it can even reset your PC. The good example is the first activation or new updates.
