Triple-i Initiative is back with an indie game showcase this April
The Triple-i Initiative is an organization founded by indie developers for indie developers. Their annual showcase is planned for next month, April 10th.

The Triple-i Initiative, a showcase focused on featuring indie video games, has announced the date for their annual showcase. This year’s showcase will happen on the same date it did last year, April 10th. This will be the second showcase since the initiative began last year. The organization is supported by several successful indie developers including the teams behind Darkest Dungeon, Risk of Rain 2, Slay the Spire, Vampire Survivors, V Rising, and more. According to the social media post announcing the showcase, we can expect over 30 video game announcements over the 45-minute presentation.
The Triple-i Initiative is back with a new showcase scheduled for April 10th
Last year’s presentation started off with the reveal of Slay the Spire 2, which immediately put the showcase on the map. Other highlights included the announcement of The Rogue Prince of Persia, as well as major updates for games like Palworld, Vampire Survivors, Hyper Light Breaker, and Darkest Dungeon 2. Chances are that this year we will get more news about all these games, whether its new information about Slay the Spire 2, or more DLC or updates for other games.
Something that does stand out to me, of course, is the date: April 10th. In the video game world, I have begun to think of things in a pre and post Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, which happens on April 2nd. Of course, we still don’t know many of the details of Nintendo’s new console, but with the Direct taking place the week before the Triple-i Initiative is scheduled, there’s a solid chance that this could be one of the first major non-Nintendo showcases to give us a glimpse of what games will be available on the new handheld. The Switch has long been a great place for indie titles, so this would be a great way to kick things off.
In the announcement video posted to social media, the Triple-i Initiative shared an image of all the developers and publishers that would be involved in the presentation. This is the first look at what to expect from this showcase. Some inclusions are obvious, such as Ubisoft’s involvement, given that we will likely see an update for The Rogue Prince of Persia, which is still in Early Access. Other notable inclusions include Kepler Interactive, the publisher behind the upcoming RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The developer behind Sifu, Sloclap, looks like they will be showing off another look at their upcoming action soccer game ReMatch. OuterSloth, the publishing branch of Among Us developer Innersloth, will also be involved, potentially showcasing a look at Project Dosa, the next game from the developers of Thirsty Suitors.
Playstack, the publisher behind Balatro, is also involved. This could mean more themed decks for Balatro, or maybe something else entirely. Manor Lords publisher Hooded Horse is involved, so there could be updates about that game as well. Thunder Lotus Games might be there to show updates to their now released in Early Access, 33 Immortals. After trying that game, I am looking forward to hearing more updates about that 33-player rogue-lite’s roadmap. Digital Sun’s Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault will likely make an appearance as well, given that publisher 11 Bit Studios is listed. Fingers crossed for release dates for a bunch of these upcoming games.
One indie game that has been on my wishlist for a long time is Tears of Metal, a hack and slash rogue-lite from Paper Cult, the creators of Bloodroots. A gameplay clip was featured in the announcement video, and Paper Cult is on the long list of collaborators, so I hope this means a release date.
For fans of indie games, and just great games in general, this will be a showcase to watch. After knocking it out of the park last year, it would be no surprise if this year had even more great announcements.
