In just 3 days, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered will be released, which is a bundle of refreshed versions of three installments of the popular series about Lara Croft. On this occasion, Matthew Ray, who works at Aspyr Media studio, gave an interview to Nintendo Everything, where he answered a few questions.

New elements and faithfulness to the originals

Right from the start, he explained that the studio had assumed, from the beginning, that it would not stop at releasing the remastered original trilogy. The fans' reception only strengthened their assumption and work on installments IV-VI began shortly after the launch of parts I-III. Thanks to this, we will receive them so quickly.

Ray also assured that the developers gained a lot of valuable experience from working on the previous bundle, and the players' opinions taught them what the audience expects the most in terms of remasters.

Thanks to this, the new collection will include a photo mode, which will give fans even more control, as well as the option to skip cutscenes or new animations. At the same time, it will remain as faithful to the originals as possible, and will not introduce any changes to the plot or censorship.

"Angel of Darkness is a pivotal chapter in Lara Croft's adventures"

The interviewer paid particular attention to the sixth installment of the series, which received mixed reviews from players after its release. We already know it will undergo specific changes, and Ray has now highlighted that this is a key component for the whole series.

Angel of Darkness is a pivotal chapter in Lara Croft’s journey, and we wanted to give it the attention it deserves, hence why we decided to showcase AoD Lara as the lead character on the key art for the remastered collection. It's also become somewhat of a cult classic within the community and is considered to be one of the most important classic titles to both Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics.

In the end, the developer stated that there are currently no plans for DLCs, but this could change in the future based on player feedback. We should also soon receive information about physical collectible items. Moreover, we learned that Aspyr is eager to continue working on the series after the release of the IV-VI collection.

Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered will be released on February 14th on PC, PS4, PS5, XOne, XSX/S, and Nintendo Switch.
