Borderlands Spin-off Coming Early Next Year
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will be released as planned. The new game will take us on an original fantasy adventure inspired by a Borderlands 2 expansion, with the story being portrayed by actors known for BoJack Horseman and Palm Springs, among others.
- Borderlands spin-off inspired by classic RPGs and fantasy worlds;
- Launch in early 2022;
- The game will feature voices of famous actors such as Andy Samberg and Will Arnett.
Tiny Tina, a character known from the previous parts of the popular looter shooter, has already lived to see a dedicated DLC, and now she will get her own game. The spin-off received a trailer a few weeks ago referencing Tolkien's Rings of Power forging scene. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will take us to a fantasy world where we'll explore a storyline independent from the main Borderlands storyline. Developer Gearbox and publisher Take-Two have confirmed that the game will be released in early 2022, as announced. Let's hope this doesn't get in the way of optimization, as it did two years ago on the release date of Borderlands 3.
According to Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford, the idea for Wonderlands was born about 10 years ago. We don't yet know how different the upcoming game will be from the original Borderlands. In the game we will encounter various creatures, such as dragons, goblins, dangerous wyverns, undead or humanoid sharks visible in the trailer.
"The porting of real weapons from Borderlands to battle dragons, skeletons, goblins and more in an original fantasy world invented by the deadliest 13-year-old in the galaxy, Tiny Tina, in the form of a new stand-alone AAA video game is a dream come true," Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software.
Also the cast of the upcoming game also looks interesting. The characters will be voiced by Andy Samberg, known from the TV series Brooklyn Nine-Nine or the movie Palm Springs, as well as Will Arnett, the actor voicing BoJack Horseman, the main protagonist of an award-winning animation.
