Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Records Huge Success; Follow-up Inbound
Gearbox Software announced that Tiny Tina's Wonderlands was a big success and launched a new brand that will be continued.
Thanks to information revealed during the Embracer Group's finanacial result presentation, we learned that Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will receive a sequel.
- During the presentation, Randy Pitchford, i.e. the head of Gearbox Software, the studio responsible for the project, said that the game's success meant that it launched a new IP for the company, which will be further developed.
- Tiny Tina's Wonderlands exceeded the developers' and publisher's internal forecasts, both financially and in terms of reception in the industry media. Unfortunately, no detailed results were given.
- Pitchford also stated that Gearbox is already working on "new adventures" belonging to the brand, although he did not specify whether this meant further DLCs for Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, or whether the work on the second part has already begun.
Recall that the game was released on March 25, this year, on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The PC version was initially available only on Epic Games Store, but the exclusivity period lasted only three months and in June the game made its way to Steam.
The game was met with a fairly warm reception. The PC version has an average rating of 79% on Metacritic, and on Steam 75% of user ratings are positive.
It is worth mentioning at the end that Embracer Group bought out Gearbox Software last year. The amount of the transaction was $363 million.
