Obsidian's Latest RPG Sold Over 4 Million Copies
Take-Two's latest report includes information on sales of The Outer Worlds, the first intallment of Obsidian's new IP.
Take-Two Interactive boasted some very interesting results in its latest quarterly report this year. There was information about The Outer Worlds, a 2019 RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment and released under Private Division, Take-Two's indie gaming brand. It turns out that the game has been a financial success. The publisher reported that more than 4 million copies of the game have been sold.
It is worth noting that the game has been available in Xbox Game Pass offer since its release. However, this did not prevent it from achieving excellent sales results.
The Outer Worlds is a first-person action RPG set on a distant planet. It is a science fiction game, but a big stylistic inspiration for the creators were the 1940s and raypunk. The devs have previously worked on such productions as Fallout or Fallout: New Vegas, and you can see clear similarities here. Apparently, players were thirsty for works in a similar vibe, since the game achieved such good financial results. Currently, the studio is working on the next part of the brand, titled simply The Outer Worlds 2.
