4K Remaster of TimeSplitters 2 Hidden in Homefront Only for Dev to Lose Access Code

While playing Homefront: The Revolution, you can also fire up the remaster of the TimeSplitters 2 shooter in 4K on the digital machine. A separate, enhanced version of that game didn't come out and it's all the fault of a certain lost notebook.

Matt Phillips, one of the devs of the well-known FPS called Homefront: The Revolution, recently took part in a Twitter game that consists of sharing the most interesting easter egg implemented in a video game. The designer gave the example of the surprises hidden in the aforementioned shooter game and it is indeed a real curiosity.

Phillips is proud of an easter egg in the form of a full-fledged remaster of a classic shooter game named TimeSplitters 2, which could be played on a digital slot machine in Homefront: The Revolution. Interestingly, it supports 4K, so you can feel the visual difference from the original from 2002.

WHAT ABOUT MULTIPLAYER

If the players use Homefront: The Revolution's slot machines when playing in co-op, they could theoretically be able to fire up one of the multiplayer maps in TimeSplitters 2. That, at least, was Phillips' ambitious goal, but he's not entirely sure he's actually achieved it.

This begs the logical question - why hasn't a remaster of TimeSplitters 2 been released separately to this day, if the full version is still functioning, only in a different game? Unfortunately, the answer may disappoint you a bit, because the developer claims that he has lost the notebook with the code unlocking the title somewhere. Internet users are already digging through Homefront: The Revolution's files in search of any clues, but Phillips cools their enthusiasm by claiming that there simply aren't any. But who's to stop them from trying? Maybe they'll succeed and we'll see a surprising discovery.
