„They Don't Care About Enotria and They Don't Care About You.” Devs of This RPG Blame Microsoft and Claim That the Game Will Follow Path of Baldur's Gate 3 and Wukong
Enotria: The Last Song, won't be released on Xbox Series X and S as planned. This is yet another game that will miss Microsoft's consoles for release.
Action RPG fans of the soulslike subgenre have nothing to complain about lately, as after the highly popular Black Myth: Wukong, the beautiful Enotria: The Last Song will be released. The debut of Jyamma Games' game has already been delayed twice, but it turns out that some people interested in this title will have to wait even longer.
The developers announced that Enotria: The Last Song will be released on September 19 for PC and PS5. Unfortunately, owners of Xbox Series X and S will be disappointed as the game's release for these platforms has been delayed again. However, the developers are unable to provide a new date for Enotria's debut on Microsoft consoles.
Jyamma Games studio announced back in March that the game would be released on Xbox "at a later date." In May, they confirmed that the game would be released on September 19 for PC, PS5, and XSX/S. Ultimately, this plan didn't succeed. The delay in releasing the game on Microsoft consoles was attributed to issues encountered during the porting of Enotria. What kind of? Microsoft simply isn't interested in releasing this independent souls-like game, as explained by Jyamma Games' founder and CEO Giacomo "Jacky" Greco on the game's Discord server. The developers of Enotria had to postpone the game release on XSX/S, despite the port being ready, because the owner of the Xbox brand reportedly didn't respond to their inquiries for 2 months.
You can ask Xbox why they haven't responded us for 2 months, obviously, they don't care about Enotria and they don't care about you. [...] The context is to open a store page and submission, we've Xbox Series X/S version ready, but we can't proceed with submission and release. I've spent a lot of money for porting and they decided to ignore us. […] The funny thing is the Xbox Series X version of Entoria is better than PS5 at the moment in terms of performance -- wrote the CEO of Jyamma Games studio.
It's not really a surprise that porting the game to Xbox Series X and S - especially to XSS - is causing some difficulties for devs. After all, this isn't the first situation when some title is delayed - let's recall here Dune: Awakening, which porting to XSS is a challenge for developers. Other examples include the highly regarded Baldur's Gate 3 (here we also know that XSS was to blame) or Black Myth: Wukong (the developers probably have signed an exclusivity agreement with Sony in this case). Even releasing updates to the latest Xboxes can be problematic. This is the first time we hear, however, that Microsoft itself is causing problems. Let's remind that in the case of BG3, the head of the gaming department of the company, Phil Spencer, made every effort to get the game to XSX/S as soon as possible.
