The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Gets REDkit and Full Steam Workshop Support for DLC Mods
An update introducing modding tools for The Witcher 3: Wild Gon is now available for download on PC. The update also implements full Steam Workshop support.
As announced, CD Projekt RED studio released an update that introduces to the PC version of the game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt the modding tools REDkit. This means that now everyone interested can almost without obstacles create different kinds of mods to the popular game using the same software that developers used.
Furthermore, the update brings full Steam Workshop support for mods to the game, as described in the announcement, including DLC (i.e. mods with entirely new content).
Manage your mods with ease on Steam! We've integrated the Steam Workshop support into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. While Steam users can still use Nexus Mods or whatever modding platform they like, they now can install any mod available on the game's Steam Workshop with a single click. Just find the mod you like, click "Subscribe" and it will install automatically! – we read on the game's official website.
The update also improves the "method of adding new world IDs to mods" and includes "full support for loading DLC mods." The issue "that occurred when loading additional content from mods" has been fixed, according to the devs. Taking into account the recent presentations of REDkit's capabilities, the introduction of an official modding tool for The Witcher 3 may breathe new life into the 9-year-old title.
CD Projekt RED also launched a special website dedicated to REDkit, where you will find basic information about the tools and messages for both mod creators (who can download REDkit from Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG) and users. In this second case, for now, they boil down to the question: "How to install mods?" and listing a few basic steps.
In the upcoming weeks, developers intend to share a variety of guides, tutorials, and resources with the community to assist in mastering REDkit.
