The team behind Resident Evil 2 Reborn announce Daymare: 1998, TPP survival horror
Although Resident Evil 2 Reborn never saw the light of day, its creators at Invader Studios have now announced their own TPP survival horror called Daymare: 1998. The game is being developed on Unreal Engine 4 for PC.
When Resident Evil 2 Reborn fan-project was shut down by Capcom last year prior to the announcement of the official Resident Evil 2 Remake, its would-be creators at Invader Studios promised that the work they had done thus far would be used for future projects. Now, they have revealed that one of these future project is Daymare: 1998, a third-person hardcore survival horror inspired by 1990s classic games and films. The game is being developed on Unreal Engine 4 for Windows PC, but currently there is no release date. Here’s the first trailer:
Daymare: 1998 bears resemblance to the Resident Evil franchise. The game is to feature a compelling story with more than one playable character as well as hideous mutants to shoot down (but remember that ammunition is scarce). The official press release says that the game can boast the contribution of ex-Capcom’s game artist Satoshi Nakai, who designed enemies for Resident Evil Code: Veronica X and Resident Evil 0 and is now doing the same work for Daymare: 1998. Moreover, trailer description mentions “tons of references to the '90s pop culture and horror movie hat-tips” and teases limited save points – sounds enough like old-school survival horror? If not, take a look at some screenshots:
