The Mandalorian S2 Opening With Smaller Audience Than The Boys S2

The first episode of the second season of The Mandalorian reached quite a good viewing numbers, although it did not best this year's score of The Boys. It doesn't change the fact that Disney did better than a dozen months ago.

Disney can be pleased with the opening of the second season of its hit series The Mandalorian. It is definitely one of this year's hottest streaming premieres, and in terms of viewing numbers, it outstripped it's own score achieved several months ago on the occasion of the premiere of the first episode. However, Internet users wouldn't be themselves if they hadn't thrown a small pebble into the American company's garden, as there is one series that did much better at this stage in 2020. We are talking about The Boys.

Exact statistics were provided by Reelgood, which is tracking and researching the streaming market. It collected the percentage viewership of selected productions based on data of 2 million American consumers. You can see the chart below.

Here's the whole graph. Source: Reelgood

We see that 5.7% of all streams was the second season of The Mandalorian - 1.3 percentage points more than in the case of season 1. Second place is occupied by the 3rd season of Netflix's Stranger Things with 5.8%. However, the competition was outclassed by Amazon's superhero hit The Boys, which achieved a truly impressive result of 7.2%.

As we can see, Disney has no reasons to worry, but the company certainly has to pick up pace if it dreams of monopolizing the market. Netflix has completely dominated streaming this year, but HBO and Amazon have not said their last words either, as can be seen from their original series. If you ask me, let the biggest companies compete with each other at will, we can only benefit from it.
