The Binding of Isaac: Repentance Online Mode Beta Underway; Here's How to Join
You can play The Binding of Isaac: Repentence with your friends right now. The current co-op mode testing improves gameplay and introduces Hard Mode.
After years of anticipation and announcements, a true online co-op mode for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth hit the game in November 2023 in a test version. Yesterday, the second phase of its open beta began.
The opportunity to use the online mode is available to any owner of the base game and the Repentence DLC on Steam, after downloading the latest update.
Before the official release scheduled for the end of 2024, there will be a series of such beta tests, each lasting 2 weeks. The beta will be shut down for the second half of each month to make changes based on bugs reported by the community. The current session will remain open until January 16.
Isaac Online - how to join the beta tests
To join the tests, you need to.:
- install The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth on your PC.
- Right-click on the game icon in Steam library and select "Properties".
- Go to the "Beta" tab and input the password for the current test session, provided in the relevant blog entry on Steam.
- Accept the activation of the testing mode.
We also received a declaration that the tested mode will never be available in the basic version of Rebirth, as well as Afterbirth and Afterbirth+.
The latest version of the online co-op, numbered 1.9.5, already has the first improvements and changes, the full list of which can be found in the official post on Steam. Among the most important of these are the ability to play with friends in Hard Mode and the respawning of all group members using Mom's Bed in the course of joint gameplay.
The developers point out that the current version of Isaac Online is still far from final build. Not only will we find in it most likely unforeseen bugs, but also some of the features planned by the developers to be implemented in the next stages of testing.
More details on the mechanics and premise of the final version of the co-op can be found here. If you decide to use the mode yourself, take care to create a local backup of your existing save game data for safety.
