Online Multiplayer Mode Coming to The Binding of Isaac Rebirth; Details Revealed
Mcmillen revealed plans for the future of The Binding of Isaac series. The long-awaited online co-op mode is in its final testing phase.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth debuted in 2014, but thanks to a dedicated community and active developer, its development continues all the time. In videos published yesterday on TikTok, Edmund McMillen touched on the long-awaited online co-op mode.
As McMillen reports, the possibility of simultaneous cooperation with friends is to be introduced in the Repentence expansion in about 1.5 months. He and his colleagues are about to test the capabilities of the new mode, in preparation for the upcoming public beta.
Keeping up the tradition of establishing a close relationship with the community, the creator of The Binding of Isaac also answered some questions. He revealed a new mechanic, going beyond the gameplay itself, which was created involuntarily. When playing with friends, we will have to skillfully share items, trying to run two separate character builds.
We will also be able to start our online challenges from any save - brand new or continue our solo playthrough.
McMillen, however, had no easy answers to some of the comments made by Internet users, forcing himself to emphasize that the mode will continue to be developed and modified on an ongoing basis long after it goes public.
Thanks to many similar initiatives by developers The Binding of Isaac is to this day considered one of the most iconic rouglike games. You can find it in the enhanced version, called Rebirth, on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch consoles and IOS-based mobile devices for around $12.
A DLC is required to use the upcoming multiplayer mode, Repentence, is available e.g. on Steam.
