Terraria Devs Will Release New Patch as Thank You for Steam Award
The next update for Terraria is coming. Patch 1.4.4 will introduce balance changes, make gameplay more enjoyable, and add new items.
Re-Logic is working on a new patch for Terraria. The update will have the number 1.4.4 and be titled Labor of Love Update. No release date has been announced at this time. The patch is being released as a thank you to fans who voted for the game to win the "Labor of Love" category in last year's Steam awards..
The most important changes in patch 1.4.4
The patch was announced in a rather unusual way - the devs enabled the popular YouTube channel ChippyGaming, which specializes in videos about Terraria, to do it. Thanks to the latest videol we learned what the update will offer.
Changes to make the game more enjoyable
- Changes to gameplay balance, making weapons such as Dark Lance, Frostbrand, Flairon, Scourge of Corrupter and Star Wrath more useful. Furthermore, items like the Defender Medal will be about 33-40% cheaper.
- During the tasks performed for Angler we will have a chance to get additional rewards. The more quests we complete for him, the more likely we are to receive extra items.
- Plantera's Bulb item will now automatically spawn after defeating the three mechanical bosses.
- Bast Statues can be found not only in chests. They will also appear randomly in dwellings located in the Underground Desert biome.
- During the Old One's Army event the players will no longer have to wait idly until the time runs out for the next wave of enemies to attack. If they right-click on the Crystal Stand, the next offensive will begin immediately.
- Buffs from objects such as Sharpening Station, Crystal Ball, Ammo Box, and Bewitching Table will not be time limited and will remain active until the character dies.
New Items
Patch 1.4.4 will also introduce new items. For now, one of them has been revealed:
- Resplendent Dessert - enabling us to summon two pets simultaneously.
Update 1.4.4 will be the last
The devs announced that patch 1.4.4 will be the last, and after its release the team will fully focus on a new game.
It is worth noting, however, that this is not the first time when the developers make such a declaration. The previous "last" patch was supposed to be the 1.4.1 from 2020 but after that the game was further developed, offering, among others, crossover with Don't Starve. So we would not be surprised if also 1.4.4 - contrary to the announcements - also did not turn out to be the real end of support for Terraria.
