Take-Two Registers New Domains – Mafia III Confirmed?
Take-Two Interactive recently registered 4 new domains, which clearly refer to a third installment in the Mafia series. It appears that in the coming months we can expect an official announcement of Mafia III.
For some time now rumors have been circulating about the creation of Mafia III – a continuation of the famous gangster series. Establishing studio Hangar 13 by the company Take-Two Interactive, which brings together former employees of 2K Czech (which developed the two previous parts), together with the words of Rick Pasqualone suggesting that "soon" new information related to Mafia will be revealed fueled the hopes of the fans. And even though we haven’t heard anything new regarding Mafia III since January, the recent actions of Take-Two would seem to indicate that this situation is likely to change soon. As reported by users of NeoGAF, on June 25 the company registered four new domains with rather revealing names: mafia3thegame.com, mafiaIIIthegame.com, mafiathree.com, and mafiathreethegame.com.
While the previous reports can be treated as rumors at best or even downright speculation, the above-mentioned domains clearly indicate that even if the third part is not yet in development (after all, publishers sometimes register domains in advance), the creators are serious about creating the new Mafia. We have to wait for a possible official announcement, perhaps at the upcoming Gamescom, which will start on August 5.
