Tactics Ogre: Reborn - Recruit Skill; Recruiting Guide
In Tactics Ogre: Reborn it is possible to recruit opponents to your party. Here you will find a detailed description of this mechanic.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn is a revamped version of an iconic jRPG. During the adventure, you will assemble a party consisting of a number of characters - including recruited opponents. Here you will find information on how to recruit an enemy unit.
In Tactics Ogre: Reborn you have the ability to recruit enemy units. However, the whole system is quite complex and at first glance completely incomprehensible. It is based on three elements - the skills of your party, the loyalty of your opponents and the situation on the battlefield.
If during the battle you come across a unit you want to recruit then you need to make sure that there is someone in your team who has the right abilities. Some abilities are required for recruiting people and some other for animals. Make sure before the battle that you have a person who has the right ability, remember that you equip them yourself. You can check this in the party screen after selecting a character.
However, abilities alone are not enough to recruit an opponent. You still need to develop a high enough chance of successful recruitment. The first important factor in this case is the loyalty of the individual in question.
To have a chance to recruit an opponent at all, they must have a sufficiently low loyalty. You can determine it by the description of the opponent. It will appear if you click on the character and then on the question mark in the right corner of the screen. In the next step, hover over their name.

Another important consideration is the health of the unit we are attempting to recruit and its distance from the recruiter. The lower the HP of the target, and the closer the target is to the recruiter, the higher the chances of success.
Of course, in most cases the chances of recruiting an opponent will not be 100%. Therefore, the process may fail. Theoretically, you can repeat the recruitment process, but each failed recruitment reduces the chances of success in subsequent attempts. Thus, by the third attempt it is already practically impossible. However, this can be circumvented by using the Chariot system, which enables you to undo your turns. If you use it, the chances of success will reset.
