Player impressions
Tactics Ogre: Reborn is praised for its excellent storyline and highly developed turn-based combat system. Players are also very positive about the technical layer. The graphics have been heavily revamped compared to the 2010 PSP game Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, but the specific pixel art style of the original has been retained, which doesn't always happen with remakes and remasters of Japanese classics.
In addition to refreshing the interface and audiovisuals Tactics Ogre: Reborn also introduces considerable changes in gameplay. However, not everyone liked them. Two issues are the most controversial.
- Less flexible progression system - it used to be possible to freely select skills, and now many of them are assigned to particular classes.
- Some people are also annoyed by the limitation of the pace of character progression - the game sets a limit on the maximum level and every few missions, as the story progresses, it is raised. This results in enemies always being 1-2 levels higher than our party.
Not all of the new features in the gameplay met with a negative reaction. Players liked such changes as:
- Improved crafting system, which is no longer as random as in the original.
- better balancing of classes, so that each is useful during battles.
- improvements in AI and less grind are also praised.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn was released on November 11, this year. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.
It is possible to play with mouse and keyboard on Switch!
As an interesting note at the end, it is worth mentioning that the release of Tactics Ogre: Reborn on Nintendo Switch supports mouse and keyboard controls. It works the same way as on PC and the game, for example, prompts for keyboard shortcuts.
