SUPERHOT goes live today
SUPERHOT, an unusual logic FPS in which time only moves when you move, is coming out today. The game is first coming to PC and will also be available on Xbox One some time later.
This year’s hottest indie game so far – SUPERHOT – is going live in a couple of hours. Today, this unusual FPS by a Polish developer is going to be unlocked on Steam (PC, Linux, Mac), and some time later will also hit Xbox One, but there is no solid date yet.
What is so special about SUPERHOT? At first glance it looks like a rather classic first-person shooter with both firearms and melee weapons and a unique graphics style powered by Unity 3D. But the real treat is its gameplay mechanics – in SUPERHOT time moves only when you move. This obviously creates countless tactical possibilities and forces the player not only to run and shoot, but also to wonder what to do next.
SUPERHOT was born as a 7 Day First Person Shooter (7DFPS) – a game jam project created by a group of passionate friends. The prototype turned out to be of such quality that the developers decided to expand it and release as a full-fledged game (you can still download the prototype from the official website). Soon afterwards, the game saw a successful Kickstarter campaign, where it received $250k from fans. The ultimate budget of the game equalled $0.5m.
