Today marks the release of Stronghold: Definitive Edition, a refreshed version of the iconic 2001 real-time strategy game. The original was so successful that it gave rise to a series that is still being developed today. The creators of the original, FireFly Studios, are behind the development of the new edition.
Stronghold: Definitive Edition - price and availability
Stronghold: Definitive Edition is heading for personal computers. At the time these words are being written, there are about 5 hours left before the game is unlocked. Its price remains unknown. The game will be available on Steam.
Stronghold: Definitive Edition - key information
The described item does not introduce revolutionary changes to the mechanics known from the original. We are still dealing with an RTS combining elements of a city builder and war strategy.
- During the game we build impressive medieval fortresses and recruit soldiers, as well as take care of the economy, managing finances and resources.
- The strong point of the game are the battles, during which we have to demonstrate our tactical sense, whether we defend our own castle or attack the enemy's fortress.
- The pillar of gameplay in Stronghold: Definitive Edition are three story campaigns; in addition to the two classic ones, a new story awaits, in which our task is to rescue the kidnapped niece of Sir Longarm. In addition, we'll find special siege scenarios inspired by historical events and a multiplayer mode that enables you to play with others over the Internet.
- Compared to the original, the discussed project stands out due to refreshed graphics. The game received improved textures and animations, which were supervised by the artists responsible for the original. The sound layer was also remastered.

- In the spring, we will receive a similar set. One more free update will bring a collection of castles and maps. The second paid DLC (Valley of the Wolf), meanwhile, will introduce a new campaign and an additional side story.
