Baldur's Gate 3 Delay Makes Waves; Dragon Age Co-creator Delays His New Game
The earlier release of Baldur's Gate 3 has forced David Gaider to postpone his latest project. Fortunately, the new debut date for the game developed by the former director of the Dragon Age series is not too far from the previously anticipated one.
August launch of Baldur's Gate 3 will be quite an event in the game industry. Interestingly, however, the earlier release of the RPG developed by Larian Studios has caused repercussions for smaller developers.
One of them is Summerfall, which has delayed the release of its own game, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical so that it does not interfere with the debut of the new Baldur's Gate.
Fortunately, this game, which is a combination of adventure and musical, will be released just a week after the previously scheduled date, i.e. August 10 (via Gematsu).
"We want everyone to have enough time to check out Stray Gods at the time of its release. Baldur's Gate III is a hotly anticipated game (by us, too!), so we want to give our fans space to celebrate Stray Gods."
Original combination
You will probably ask what is Stray Gods? It is a synthesis of an interactive musical, a narrative adventure game and an RPG. The project is headed by David Gaider, director of Dragon Age games.
- The title will focus on the narrative layer and players' choices, which will affect the ending.
- The game belongs to the urban fantasy genre and is "a story about finding one's place."
- The game will offer hand-illustrated graphics, accompanied by a rich soundtrack written by Gaider.
- Among the sources of inspiration, the creators cite Buffy: the Vampire Slayer (episode Once More With Feeling) or the game Life is Strange.
Finally, I will point out that debuting on August 10, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical will hit PC, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5.
