Free RTS From StarCraft 2 Devs Reveals Trailer at Gamescom
Blizzard veterans working at Frost Giant have released a new trailer for the RTS Stormgate.
Yesterday's Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023 was densely packed with video footage from upcoming games. One of them is a new trailer for Stormgate, an RTS developed by Frost Giant, a studio founded by Blizzard veterans - including people who played key roles in the development of such productions as Warcraft III or StarCraft 2.
- The trailer showed one of the playable factions in the form of a demonic army known as the Infernal Host, which we could previously only admire in concept arts.
- This faction will make use of the so-called Shroud, a dark field of magical energy generated by key Infernal Host structures, on which its units will gain numerous bonuses.
- The trailer also informed that the group called The Chainsmokers is helping to create the game's music.
- Composers also include Tracy W. Bush (known for the soundtracks for StarCraft and WarCraft III) and Frank Klepacki (Dune 2 and Command & Conquer).
Stormgate is heading exclusively for PC. The game will use a free-to-play model. The developers have plans for large-scale beta tests. Sign-ups for them are still ongoing on the official website.
The game will feature a story campaign, both single-player and cooperative with regularly updated missions, a 3vE cooperative mode (three people against an AI) with customizable armies, and PvP gameplay, including 1-on-1 ranked duels and 3-on-3 team clashes. The developers also anticipate releasing an in-game editor sometime after the release, enabling the community to create mods.
