Still Wakes the Deep is a new horror adventure game from creators of Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. You will follow the story of a man, trapped during a storm in a hunted by unknown threat drilling platform. The title is available on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. People who have Xbox subscription can play it in Game Pass. However, this version lacks settings for upscaling technology, such as DLSS and FSR3.

Missing DLSS and FSR3 on Game Pass in Still Wakes the Deep Explained

Still Wakes the Deep is available on PC via tree stores – Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store. Additionally, on the third of these platforms, you will get access to the game as part of your PC Game Pass subscription. However, players have noticed that the versions from stores differ in the available settings:

  1. On Steam and Epic Games Store you have access to four upscaling technologies – FSR3, DLSS, XeSS and Unreal Engine Temporal Super Resolution (TSR).
  2. On Microsoft Store is only available Unreal Engine Temporal Super Resolution (TSR).

This case was explained on the Steam forum by the game developer. According to a post by The Chinese Room, the version available in the PC Game Pass is similar to that of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S - it offers the same graphics settings as consoles. Implementing upscaling options similar to the PC versions available on Steam and Epic Games Store would require writing special code.

The PS5, Xbox X|S, and WinGDK (PC Game Pass) versions all have the same options. While we added extra upscaling options to the Steam and Epic Store versions. Adding them to WinGDK would require a custom coded solution.

This should not come as a surprise, since the PC Game Pass service works through the Xbox application for computers. However, if you decide to play the title, regardless its flaws, you should remember that there are also some perks. The game has an Xbox Play Anywhere feature that allows a smooth transition from PC to Xbox console without losing saves.
